Why Hire Trybe?

The nexus of Trybe jobs came from the felt need of under-employment in the community, especially for young men of color.  There are plenty of jobs out there, especially for hard working, willing, able persons, but not getting calls back from job applications, not having contracts renewed, or not being able to keep a job were all too frequent occurrences.  The problem was in the disconnect between the sometimes unstable street/family world of the unemployed, and the need to be stable in the working world.  There is a big need for job mentors, life coaches, and PARENTS that help mentor, train, coach, and help in healthy ways.  It's a parent driving their daughter to a babysitting job, or the parent lending their son a tie to the job interview, or the parent sending out an email to the neighborhood marketing their child's summer employability, etc.  A little bit of dependent help goes a long way to achieving healthy independence.  Too many in our community don't have this.  This is where Trybe comes in - it helps to train (mostly by having people do volunteer jobs), talk for countless hours about the dos and don'ts in the job world, test (by having them go out with experienced workers), and set-up the job connections.  Once a person is ready, they take on jobs of their own, and/or start their own businesses. (2 businesses have been started by Trybe families)  Sometimes, people in career change mode or going through life trials needs some extra cash and these types of jobs work great for them.
