Street Team

Meet the Street Team

The Street Team is made up of young adults and middle school and high school youth.  The Street Team typically spends 5-10 hours a week at work at a local public school, recreation center, church, non-profit organization, or other Trybe-sponsored program or club.  Youth also spend 5 hours a week in mentorship, with weekly team meetings, attendance at local conferences and civic board meetings (city council, school site council, NCPCs), or at local businesses and NPOs (Radiologie, Tribe Church, OpenOakland, Bikery) to learn skills such as film/photography, Quickbooks and book keeping, introductory coding and website management, early childhood education, event management, logistics, and food preparation and more! Youth are paid internship stipends.

  • Additional employment, both part-time and full-time
  • Exposure to more opportunities and upwardly mobile paths. Soft and hard job skills acquired
  • Experience with different cultures and lifestyles in meaningful interactions
  • Increased network of relationships (Rec Center directors, principals and teachers, pastors and NPO leaders, and business and political leaders.)

Do Good Saturdays - Youth leading change

The best part about Do Good Saturdays is that they are conceived and led by youth.  Youth think of the next project and ask the community for input by meeting with principals, pastors, neighbors, non-profit directors, mothers, or small business owners to work out the details and logistics.  They then recruit their friends, clubs, neighbors, and families to help.  Finally, the Saturday comes, and the group (from 3 to 25 volunteers) DOES GOOD.

The project times vary either 9am-1pm or 1pm-4pm, usually in 3-hour blocks.

Do you have a suggestion for a youth project?  Contact us.
