The Struggle: TRYING TO DO what we can't doIt's a struggle to bring people together. It's a struggle because it's too easy to let our differences separate us, creating conflict and ill will. Yet we find ourselves in a strategic area where diversity just happens; yet can we find a harmony in diversity? Here are some of the questions that keep us grounded and focused.
Questions -How to create a space where a diversity of peoples can meaningfully interact and develop lasting relationships? (community centers, public schools, church, gyms, cafes/bars, block parties, volunteer projects, peace walks, etc.) -How to create new, solid, healthy community within old, broken communities? -Is diversity worth it? Check out what some academics have to say about it. -How to integrate and serve and relate without losing your culture and identity and without suppressing other people's culture and identity? (this is so easy to mess up, usually done without words) |
