Welcome to Trybe, Inc.! Building vibrant communities in Oakland and beyond......
OAKLAND TRYBE Youth Working Together to Create a Better Oakland
Founded in 2008, Oakland Trybe is a non-profit in the Eastlake/San Antonio/Fruitvale area of Oakland serving school-aged youth and young adults. We believe that so many good things happen when people come together. We bring youth together to do good work through math clubs, after-school clubs, basketball teams, block parties, community-service activities, and large seasonal events. Many Trybe youth serve as mentors through Trybe's Cascading Mentorship Program walking with their peers through life's stages and struggles.
Our aim is to bring people together through building healthy communities. Every person is brought into mission, to serve, and to build, and it is through these outward motions that people are served, strengthened, supported, and transformed, both for the ones serving and the ones being served. Now in our 8th year of service, Trybe Inc. has received for 501c3 status and is supported by foundations, churches, and individuals.

Focused on Relationships
Trybe builds through relationships. Through relationships, Trybe reaches thousands of people each year. Instead of focusing on just programs, Trybe lets relationships guide the path forward in where we spend our time, energy and love. Most of Trybe's relationships are centered around youth and their families. Numbers have grown to hundreds of lives dramatically impacted but what Trybe wants more than anything is to alter destinies. This can only be done when there is deep connection where sacrifice is simply viewed as a joyful exchange. It starts with tutoring once a week, then showing up to cheer on a basketball game, then eventually we find ourselves helping young ones apply for college, and attending baby showers for new parents. Trybe helps create and manage relationships through its unique contextualized programs of Cascading Mentorship, basketball teams, seasonal events, grocery shares, Do-Good Saturdays, and home visits.
We will leave at 12p Friday, 1/30 and travel to West Lake Tahoe (Tahoe City, CA). Please bring money for food on the way up as we will stop at In & Out Burger in Davis.
We will cook our own breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, have morning and evening group time (devotions), and free time in the afternoon (snow play). Sunday, 2/1, we’ll pack up, have group time, eat breakfast, and head home. We will be back by Sunday afternoon, in time for the Superbowl.
